3DIO and the Real Business in AI 3D

Ask anyone in gaming or e-commerce how 3D assets get made and you'll hear the same answer: slowly, by hand, and at real cost. A single product model can take an artist days.

AI is changing that quickly. Dozens of tools can now turn a photo into a rough 3D model. That's impressive, but it also raises a question we've been asking a lot lately: if everyone can generate a 3D model, who actually gets paid?

We think 3DIO has a good answer. We invested in the company through the LvlUp Marketing Edge Accelerator, and since then it has gone from no revenue to more than $300K in ARR.

Where it started

When Arslan Ahmad first applied to LvlUp in May 2026, AI 3D Scanning Solutions (the company behind 3DIO) had no revenue and hadn't raised money. The product was early: could AI reliably turn everyday inputs into usable 3D assets?

Where it is now

The company has since:

  • Passed $300K in ARR
  • Signed a $200K engagement with a U.S. enterprise rendering company
  • Launched a developer API, which B2B platforms, including Star Matrix, are now testing inside their own products

Why we think the API is the story

Generating a 3D model is becoming a commodity. Plugging generation into the tools studios and retailers already use is not.

An API lets 3DIO sell to other software companies, not just end users. If a rendering tool or a synthetic-environment platform builds on 3DIO, every customer of that platform becomes a 3DIO customer too. That's a very different growth curve from selling one subscription at a time, and it's much harder for a competitor to unwind once it's in place.

What we'd still like to see

Enterprise deals take a long time, and pilots don't always convert. The next year will tell us how many of 3DIO's API tests turn into recurring contracts, and whether the $200K engagement turns into more work with the same customer.

We're betting they do.
